Data Analyst, Health Care

The Center for Family Health is seeking a Data Analyst for their Jackson, Michigan location.   This position will be responsible for analyzing, compiling and validating health care and business data as well as communicating results to internal and external consumers.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review incoming report requests, analyze data, design, develop and prepare financial, operational and management reports by gathering and compiling data.
  • Prepare regularly scheduled quarterly/periodic reports for management team and providers.
  • Audit data on a regular basis to ensure data integrity.
  • Perform data reconciliations to identify data anomalies.
  • Assist in maintenance, back up and security of business and health care data.
  • Assist in implementing, testing and validating data and software systems.
  • Prioritize tasks and respond quickly to customer reporting requirements.
  • Communicate new or important reporting requirements to appropriate management staff and aid in providing feedback on current performance.
  • Integrate data across multiple databases structures in order to produce required meaningful reports. Identify database capabilities and limitations.
  • Provides support to Patient Accounts Manager with EDI claim files creation and transmission.
  • Manage data for Medicaid Cost Reports and UDS reporting by ensuring its consistency and accuracy. Responsible for final reports submission to corresponding agencies.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work practices and instructions. 

Education/Training/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required in computer science, information mining, or similar field.
  • 4 to 5 years of experience working with data management systems preferred.
  • Experience in MS Office, Access and Crystal Reporting systems.
  • Experience in health care or related field preferred.

  •  Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other management staff, employees and the general public.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Routine testing/training on various job related skills and competencies.
  • Must be able to professionally handle confidential information including HIPAA protected data and information.
  • Must have the ability manage multiple projects, as well as working under time constraints to meet deadlines.
  • Must have good problems solving and critical thinking skills.
