Dental Hygienist

Provide dental prophylaxis and dental education to patients at the Center for Family Health Dental Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•  Performs dental prophylaxis services through initial examination of teeth, identifying problems for dentists. Cleans, scales and polishes.
• Applies topical fluoride and any prescribed topical medicants, antiseptic sprays or rinses.
• Educates patients on dental hygiene and care issues.
• Prepares patients for x-rays, takes x-rays and exposes, develops and mounts x-ray films.
• Assists in maintenance of office and equipment by cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing equipment. Cleans and maintains x-ray equipment.
• Conducts classroom education on oral health.
• Assists in design and presentation of dental education programs in schools
• Works collaboratively with school staff, coordinating classroom presentations and patient care.
• Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work practices and instructions.

Non-Essential Functions: Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Training/Experience

• Must be a licensed Dental Hygienist.
• Minimum experience through externship through school required.
