Financial Service Advocate

The Center for Family Health has an opening for a Financial Service Advocate in our Patient Accounts Department. This is a full-time, 40 hour a week hourly non-exempt position. This position is responsible for identifying appropriate health care coverage programs for CFH patients and assisting them in the enrollment process. Ability to work well with patients and work within a team environment is necessary along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This position requires experience in a customer service setting.

 

Position Summary:

 

Responsible for identifying appropriate health care coverage programs for CFH patients and assisting them in the enrollment process. 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Provide enrollment assistance, complete coverage applications using appropriate documentation, problem-solve gaps in health coverage, provide renewal assistance.
  • Provide structured education on health coverage and provide follow up information.
  • Distribute outreach materials to patients and community to help build health coverage option awareness.  Schedule may include night and weekend hours, as needed.
  • Collect and post account payments.  Record payment in Practice Management system.  Issue receipt and daily reconcile PM batch to cash receipts.
  • Assist in reducing self-pay account receivable balances. Monitor and verify program eligibility through appropriate      databases.
  • Contact patient to arrange payment plan, follow up on arrangements, and refer delinquent accounts to collection.
  • Add or forward insurance information to insurance billing staff.
  • Record results of direct/telephone contacts on the PM system.
  • Communicate account status and exceptions to the Patient Accounts Manager.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work practices and instructions.

Education/Training/Experience

  • Minimum of High School Diploma.
  • Previous experience working with public

 Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills
  • Computer experience with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work effectively and independently within their work area.
  • Demonstrates understanding and appreciation for diversity for CFH patients and CFH employees
  • Routine testing/training on various job related skills and competencies
